VEX Team

Our VEX team 2023-2024

VEX 2023-2024: Galya Chadha, Marina Shokralla, Jennifer Vu, Xuanchen Yu, Sabrina Zhang, Naré Armenian, Alissa Rubnikowicz, Ariane Nguyen, Hannah (Yuehan) Zhao, Aleksya Chéron, Carelle Attallah and Jessica Chamoun

The year 2019 was also our first year of participation. Our VEX group had to showcase ingenuity and resourcefulness. A challenge that will reveal itself hands-on given that the VEX group of Marcelline Robotics won the Innovation award at the regional competition in Terrebonne and the award of the best design at the regional competition in Ottawa.

The VEX group of Marcelline Robotics reached a new level in the year 2021-2022 by participating in the Vex Worlds Championship. Beforhand, they had won an award at the regional competition in Terrebone, hence qualifying them for the Worlds Championship in Texas. They brought their remarkable skills including position tracking in programming and won the Create award. This amazing experience marks a new chapter in the Marcelline VEX Robotics history.

Even though the pandemic made it a very difficult robotics season, the Marcellines did not stop working! The class of 2021 marked the history of Marcelline Robotics by participating with two teams instead of one. Both teams showed perseverance and determination and won most of the competition prizes, the competition cup, the overall second place and the sportsmanship cup. We are undoubtedly proud of them, not just for the awards they gathered, but for their involvement, their tenacity, and their solidarity during the most complex season in the history of Marcelline Robotics.

In 2020, Marcelline Robotics will participate in the VEX EDR category which puts to test secondary school students. Our team, VEX Marcelline, will be joined by M. Joseph El-Helou, a teacher and the team mentor.

This year, the team will have the opportunity of representing the school in one of the best-known robotics competitions and to prove that a team full of women can perform well in a sector dominated by men. VEX will be rewarding and unforgettable for the future participants.

Two components will be evaluated during the competition in addition of multiple games played. The evaluation focuses on the building and programming of the robot, meaning how the robot will accomplish some of the tasks.

The students will learn new concepts of robotics and the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, as well as the importance of team spirit, of communication and initiative.
